Mangroves
Mangroves can be trimmed in a variety of ways to provide a pleasing view while still protecting the health of the tree. Click here for more information. Examples of the different trimming styles are as follows:
Topping (hedging): is one the the most widely used forms of trimming and involves maintaining the tops of the mangroves at a particular height; though no lower than 6 feet.
Stage Trimming: involves trimming the upper portion of canopy by no more than 25% of the foliage. This method is effective for reducing mangroves in height over time while ensuring the health of the trees. Click here for the year by year transformation.
Window Trimming (understory): provides a view through the larger trees by the selective removal within the lower or central area of the tree. This preferred mthod of trimming allows for a view while maintaining shade, privacy, and a windbreak.
